Josiah Schans Breaks Program Record Twice in 60-Meter Hurdles

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Junior standout Josiah Schans of the Lock Haven University men’s track and field team delivered a historic performance this indoor season, breaking the program record in the 60-meter hurdles not once, but twice in back-to-back weeks.

On February 26, 2026, Schans clocked a time of 8.05 seconds at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge hosted by Penn State University, setting a new program record in the event.

The previous record of 8.04 seconds was set in 2020 by C.J. Anderson.

Schans wasn’t finished.

Just one week later, on February 13, at a meet hosted by Youngstown State University in Ohio, Schans lowered his own record even further, crossing the finish line in 8.01 seconds to once again rewrite the Lock Haven record books.

When asked what the achievement meant to him, Schans remained focused on the future. “It means I’m in the right direction; reflecting, this accomplishment will be short-lived to keep the momentum rolling,” he said.

Schans’ record-breaking performances highlight both his individual growth and the continued strength of the Lock Haven track and field program as the indoor season progresses.
