LHU remembers lives lost in 9/11 20th anniversary ceremony

The Student Veterans Alliance (SVA) hosted a ceremony to remember the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack. 

Before the ceremony, SVA planted 2,996 flags in the university commons in remembrance of the 2,996 victims. Jasmin Palma, an LHU health science major, said “It’s important for everyone to know what happened before and to know that there are families who lost someone.”

After the national anthem was sung, student members of the SVA retold events of the attack as well as naming several of the victims on Flight 93. The ceremony ended with a moment of silence for the victims.

Over 50 students, faculty, and staff attended the ceremony. Stephanie Weaver, the SVA advisor, said, “We don’t need a big ceremony to remember it[the 9/11 attack]. It’s really just about the people who lost their lives.”
