It’s already November, which means it’s almost time for Thanksgiving. While all the main dishes like turkey and mashed potatoes are good, everyone knows desserts are the stars of the night. Here are three recipes that are sure to leave all of your guests stuffed and satisfied.

  1. Sweet Potato Pie
  • 1 lb Sweet Potato
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 (9 in) unbaked pie crust

Step 1: Boil your sweet potatoes in their skin for 40 to 50 minutes. When done, put them under cold water and peel the skin off

Step 2: Break the sweet potato apart in a bowl. Mix with butter in a mixer, then stir in the rest of the ingredients, and mix on a medium speed until smooth. Then pour the mixture into the pie crust.

Step 3: Bake the pie at 350 degrees for 55 minutes to 1 hour, or until knife comes out clean.

  1. Apple Crisp
  • 4 cups of sliced apples, or about 4 apples
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup oats
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp ground nutmeg

Step 1: Heat your oven to 375 degrees, and grease the bottom and sides of an 8 inch square pan.

Step 2: Spread the sliced apples evenly in the pan. Stir remaining ingredients until well-mixed, and pour the mixture over the apples.

Step 3: Bake the apple crisp for 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.

  1. Snickerdoodles
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsps cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup sugar (separate from earlier sugar)
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon

Step 1: Heat oven to 400 degrees

Step 2: Mix the 1 ½ cups of sugar, butter, shortening, and eggs in a large bowl, and then stir in the rest of the ingredients

Step 3: Shape dough into 1 ¼ inch balls, and roll balls in mixture of ¼ cup sugar and cinnamon. Then, place the dough balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet

Step 4: Bake cookies for 8 to 10 minutes, and let rest on a wire rack.
