Amazon Prime PG-13 2025

From the genius mind of Lasse Hallstrom, who’s written beloved pieces like “A Dog’s Purpose,” “Dear John,” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” comes new and exciting adventures following Heather and her escapades around Spain. Many were excited to see what Hallstrom had planned for her newest romance. Sitting at number four on Prime Video, fans rushed to put the story on their screens but were soon disappointed by the outcome.
Based on the “Map That Leads to You” novel by J.P. Monninger, Heather Mulgrew, a planner who needs to know everything ahead of time, falls into a romance with the mysterious and philosophical Jack, who goes wherever the wind blows him. Both learn more about each other while exploring the different landmarks of Barcelona, Spain, and the beauty within its streets. Through the whirlwinds of emotion, they fall closer and closer in love, but Jack’s hiding a big secret that could end everything between the two of them.
The film had so much potential and built up anticipation, but the fast-paced storyline for a spark of romance drama like this is laughable. There’s so much happening over a few days of their relationship, you find yourself thinking, “They met like three hours ago; it isn’t that deep.” With every weepy drama of a romance that’s hiding a secret that can destroy everything plays out exactly like you think it would, like all the other films that ended, dating all the way back to the early 80s. This idea seems to be getting a bit old for the film industry and for the audience’s liking.
The film was given a 6.2/10 IMDb rating, which is more generous than it deserved. Although the views of Spain were spectacular to see, the cliches of a quick romance with a consequence in the end took over and didn’t stand apart from the other thousands of movies with the same exact plot. Some did enjoy the chemistry between actors Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa on screen, but the storyline itself was bland, uneventful, and ordinary. I think it’s time for some new and unique storylines to come to screens, which hopefully we’ll be getting in the near future!
