The Lock Haven University Bald Eagles won their first game of the season on thursday, Sep 5 against Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Lions (LUPA) with a 57-13. Starting off strong with a quick two touch-downs in the first quarter, LHU scored 14 points right off the bat; they kept that lead through-out the game, already ending the first quarter with over double the score of LUPA with a 14-6.

Second quarter started being the quarter they gain their distance from the opposing team. Within the fifteen minute time span, the team scored a 31 points and made the second quarter their biggest score throughout the game and left LUPA to receive no points. The results of that quarter brought the score to 45-6 by the start of halftime.

During halftime, LHU President, Dr. Robert Pignatello, and athletics director, Dr. Tom Gioglio, congratulated the LHU softball team for winning the PSAC championship and advancing into the NCAA 2019 playoffs. The LHU band performed a quick half-time show before the game was turned back over to the teams.

As the third quarter began, the LUPA stepped it up a notch, scoring 7 points. Though, it wasn’t enough to catch up with our Bald Eagles as LHU also scored 6 points that quarter. LHU finished out the third quater with a score of 51-13.

During the last quarter of the game, the Lions played hard to keep the Bald Eagles from winning but that didn’t stop our boys. They pulled in with another 6 points in the last quarter, bringing them up to their game total of 57-13. Is this a sign that the Eagles are jumping the nest and soaring again? Perhaps, but one thing is for sure; everyone’s itching to hear how their next game will turn out. Although, why wait to hear about it when you can go watch it in Clarion on September 14th at 1:00pm!
