LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior guard Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) of the Lock Haven University men’s basketball team was named this week’s Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week for the Eastern Division.

The award marks back to back weeks Kelly has been honored by the PSAC after receiving the East Division Athlete of the Week on February 10.

In their lone game of the week, Kelly helped push the Bald Eagles to a thrilling double overtime win over No. 24 Shippensburg, 104-103, on Saturday afternoon.

Kelly asserted himself throughout the game and was dominant on the defensive end. He recorded a career high five blocks and was a force on the glass grabbing eight defensive rebounds. Kelly had his hands all over the overtime periods, including the basket that forced the double overtime followed by a block in the final seconds to preserve the tie.

The senior closed the game in the second overtime period scoring the final five points, including a critical and one sequence to push the Haven advantage to 104-101, and in the final seconds he and the Lock Haven defense stood tall one last time to push the Bald Eagles to a 104-103 victory. Kelly finished the night with 18 total points.
