LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Andrea DiSomma (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) and Aitor Ruiz de Eguilaz (Euskadi, Spain/Koldo Mitxelena (Robert Morris)) of the Lock Haven University men’s soccer team were named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete and Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The Bald Eagles posted a huge 2-0 shutout-win over No. 12 Millersville on a rainy Wednesday (Sept. 15) night last week. Powered by DiSomma and Ruiz de Eguilaz, LHU captured its first win over a ranked opponent since 2017 and opened up PSAC East play 1-0.

The 2019 All-American DiSomma put the Bald Eagles on the board early after heading home a sensational corner kick for LHU’s eventual game-winning score. He kept the pressure on the nationally-ranked Millersville contingent for the rest of the match, firing off five shots. Creating chance-after-chance for the Bald Eagles, DiSomma kept the Marauders off-balance, and helped Lock Haven maintain steady control of the ball.

Goalkeeper Ruiz de Eguilaz was huge between the posts on Wednesday’s stormy night and posted an electric clean sheet against the potent Millersville attack. Ruiz de Eguilaz recorded five saves, including two massive saves late in the second half, in his shutout effort and the Bald Eagle keeper kept the nationally-ranked Marauders scoreless.

The Bald Eagles get back into action on Wednesday, September 22 when The Haven travels to Slippery Rock for an East-West crossover match. Kickoff for the match is set for 4 p.m.
