When I heard Lock Haven’s 2023 Regatta was going on this past Labor Day weekend, I knew my priority was to check out all the food! I like to think I have the tasting palate of Gordon Ramsay when it comes to food. I’ve eaten anything from salad to alligator gumbo and everything else in between.
My taste test started out with trying Snyder’s Famous Old Fashion Lemonade. Let me tell you – their lemonade was delicious. I personally do not like it when lemonade tastes like sugar water; I like the sourness of the lemon to shine through, and it shined bright! This lemonade was the perfect balance of sweet and sour for how scorching hot it was outside. My tastes buds were happy, and someone else’s were too!

Next stop: Snyder’s Funnel Cake Haus.
The funnel cake itself was super fluffy and had an incredible texture. It wasn’t too crispy where it felt like you were eating toast, and it wasn’t too chewy or doughy. The powdered sugar to cake ratio was perfect! I’ve had funnel cake where they put all the powdered sugar in the middle, and your left with uncovered edges… not this funnel cake though! Every corner had powdered gold sprinkled on it, but not too much where the funnel cake was overpowered.
When I took a bite out of it, the sugar melted right away and complimented the funnel cake’s deliciousness. It’s also important to note that there was no weird after taste — sometimes that can happen when the fryer oil isn’t fresh, but not with this place. This was my favorite food item at the carnival. If you ever come across here, definitely check them out!
At some point I craved some fries and went over to Roger’s for not just any plain old fries, but buffalo ranch fries. Honestly, they weren’t anything special. The major let down was how they drizzled on your standard buffalo sauce and ranch dressing instead of coating them completely with sauce. Nevertheless, the fries were yummy and came in a cute reusable bucket.
Maybe it was the pink food truck that suckered me in to try more food, or the bright purple lettering that said, “Grandma’s Homemade Apple Dumplings.” Either way, the dumplings were incredible. My favorite part was the apple filling because of the kick of cinnamon. The dough was fresh and complimented the apple filling nicely. This served with vanilla ice cream was an incredible topping. Overall, the Regatta carnival was so much fun to attend! The delicious food is only one of many reasons to check out this carnival.
