LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven men’s soccer team (0-1-1) fell short to Mercyhurst (0-1), in their first home game of the season. The Bald Eagles gave the fans an exciting atmosphere, displaying a tremendous amount of teamwork on the field.
Head coach Patrick Long was very proud of the overall effort of the team. “The team really stepped up from their game on Sunday,” Long said. “The team will continue to improve and progress together.”
The game was exciting with 12 fouls each for both teams. It was neck and neck for most of the first half until Mercyhurst’s own Guilherme de Lima Cunha scored a goal. Lock Haven spent the rest of the game keeping Mercyhurst away from the goal while simultaneously taking more than five shots at the goal in the second half.
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:
Although both teams’ goalies proved very valuable to the game, Lock Haven’s goalie Brady Freiwald stood out by saving 4 shots to the goal during the first half; two of which were back-to-back.
