This past weekend featured two PSAC East showdowns between The Lock Haven Bald Eagles vs West Chester on Friday in which the Lady Eagles lost 20-25, 24-26, 17-25 (0-3) And Lock Haven vs Millersville on Saturday where the Eagles won in five: 25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 18-25, 19-17 (3-2) On Friday vs West Chester, Freshmen Outside Hitter #13 Gracelynn Wolzen led the eagles in kills with 8 and also recorded 2 blocks for the team. Senior Middle Hitter #12 Evie Jane Rembold recorded 6 kills and 2 blocks, and #9 Right Side Avery Beall helped the team with 4 kills and 3 solo blocks. On Saturday Vs Millersville. The Eagles won in a five-set thriller which ended with an Ace from Emma Kelly to win 19-17 in the fifth set. In the first four sets vs Millersville, the Eagles battled to win the first and third sets but lost the second and fourth. Lock Haven was able to score on the left side with #13 Wolzen who recorded 15 kills and got an ace on the day and with Sophomore Outside Hitter #8 Reagan Irons who recorded 23 kills, 19 digs, and 2 blocks. Her 23 kills ties here on the record book for sixth most kills in a five-set match. Irons said after the match “I just trusted my teammates and felt like I could trust everyone on the floor with me” #12 Rembold was also an impact player with 7 kills, 5 blocks and an ace. The Bald Eagles featured a young lineup with many of their starters being either Freshman or Sophomores. Senior Setter #4 Kelly Gaston who ended the game with 6 kills, 6 blocks, and an ace stated, “It didn’t feel like Freshmen were on the floor because everyone stepped up and did their job, I trusted they would get me the ball and that I could set anywhere, and we would score.” Saturday’s win marks the first conference win for Lock Haven. The Eagles will be on the road this week vs Kutztown Friday 10/11 at 6pm and Saturday 10/12 at East Stroudsburg at 1pm.
