Fall is no doubt one of my favorite seasons, and not just for the cool weather and beautiful scenery, but also because of the fashion! As the temperature begins to drop, fall becomes the perfect opportunity to break out your favorite jackets, sweaters, cozy leggings, and adorable boots.

As you pick out your favorite fall staples in the coming weeks, check out the following fashion hacks to keep you warm, yet stylish this season.

  1. Cropped sweatshirt – Cropped sweatshirts are a pre-fall staple for any college student. If you don’t want to take a pair of scissors to your favorite sweatshirt or buy a new one, adjust a belt or tie a ribbon/string around your abdomen – at your desired height – and pull the sweatshirt up and around until it covers the belt or string completely. This is a super easy trick to crop any of your sweatshirts and make them look less baggy.
  2. Dress/skirt hack –  Not ready to ditch your favorite dress or skirt now that the weather is cooling down? No worries! For the next time you want to wear your super cute dress or skirt, try layering a pair of fur or fleece-lined leggings or tights underneath. For extra warmth, be sure to layer a pair of nylon tights over the fleece or fur-lined leggings.
  3. DIY embroidery – Embroidered denim is a must-have this fall season. However, it can be costly for already-broke college students. Instead of sticker shock, try embroidering your own favorite denim pieces with a small sewing needle and some colorful thread. Get crafty with it. Even if you are not the most creative person out there, Google it or look at Pinterest for inspiration.
