American rapper and pop star Nicki Minaj has recently discussed her feelings on the Covid-19 vaccination on Twitter, but not in the way anyone expected.
Minaj tweeted out that she would not be going to the Met Gala due to the Covid-19 vaccine being required for all of those who attended. She did not want to get the vaccine yet due to not fully researching and understanding the science behind Covid-19.
Minaj tweeted, “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now.”
It has not been uncommon for celebrities to voice their concerns and uncertainties with Covid-19 vaccines and why they will not be getting it. However, Minaj’s second reason as to not getting vaccinated was baffling to many: because of a cousin’s friend becoming impotent due to swollen testicles before a wedding.
“My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen” Minaj tweeted. “His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding.”
This tweet became an immediate topic of discussion, as there were nearly no other claims of swollen testicles being a side effect of Covid-19. Thousands of Twitter users retweeted and replied with their opinions. Some were supportive of her decision, while others were not. Most were still trying to understand if her tweet was a joke.
This caught the attention of the media fast and everyone latched onto the story. The attention eventually caught up to the Health Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Terrence Deyalsingh. CNN cites that he criticized Minaj’s tweets as “false” and a waste of everyone’s time.
Dr. Anthony Fauci even caught wind of the whole affair and gave his opinion. In a CBS News article, Fauci says the vaccine causes no reproductive issues and there is no evidence to support such a claim.
In the end, Minaj says she will eventually get the vaccine as she wishes to tour again soon.
