Life can be very drab at times, especially in an area where it rains every day. Those darn grey clouds really mute what could be such a vividly bright day. So, add some color to your life with this playlist!
1. Red Rain – Peter Gabriel: To start off things, let’s take it a little slow. Peter Gabriel’s “Red Rain” is a lush piece with lyrics referring to an absurd dream Gabriel once had. While brooding in nature, “Red Rain” features beautiful instrumentation with passionate vocals on Gabriel’s part.
2. Orange Crush – R.E.M.: Alt. rock legends R.E.M. were in something of a career valley when they released “Orange Crush.” This was after Their critically acclaimed “Document” album and before their wildly successful “Automatic for People” record. Still, “Orange Crush” is a fantastic song steeped in political anger.
3. Yellow – Coldplay: Coldplay is the perfect band… to end a movie or tv show with. They are able to condense so much bittersweet emotion into less than 5 minutes. Their songs always feel like emotional rollercoaster rides that tear me up.
4. Collard Greens – Schoolboy Q: This song exudes coolness. Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar both have no problems showing off their killer skills as rappers. The music video only adds that.
5. Blue Boy – Mac Demarco: A lot of Mac Demarco songs, this one specifically, make me think of the beach. There is some twang or tone in that guitar of his that warps me into a sunny place in the sand where the waves are hitting the shore. Such a lovely feeling.
6. The Purple Bottle – Animal Collective: One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands of all time. The always eclectic indie group Animal Collective are at their weirdest here, and I love them for it.
7. Pink Turns to Blue – Husker Du: Woah, two colors in the title of this song? That is so crazy! I know I shouldn’t be so sarcastic and cracking jokes over a very serious and dark song, but hey I have to add some fun to it.

Alex Rossis a third-year Communication student at Lock Haven with a focus in Journalism. This is his second year as an active member of the Eagle Eye and has been the Arts and Entertainment editor, News editor, and an active writer.
