Lock Haven is home to many local eateries and I, Dan Stoner, am on a mission to showcase and review them all, one plate at a time. Today, we’re going to be showcasing a select meal from Dutch Haven. Today’s meal consists of their Cowboy Burger and Fresh Chips.

Cowboy Burger: 7.3/10.

The criticisms I have for this burger only concern its presentation. When I hear Cowboy Burger, I think of the following: barbecue sauce, jalapeños, caramelized onions, maybe a kind of pickled cabbage, and Swiss cheese. The contents of this burger are just a normal burger (lettuce, tomato, mustard, and cheddar) with added barbecue sauce and onion rings (almost too many). Again, the burger was still a good burger, but it didn’t fit the requirements of MY preferences of what a Cowboy Burger should be. This is down to personal preference.

A more objective observation is the potential issue I have with the bread. While it wasn’t dry, it kind of just fell apart and I lost a few contents of my burger through biting. Again, I am not trying to attack the establishment. I enjoyed the burger, and if I ordered a normal burger, I’m sure I would be giving them a 8.7/10 or higher. It just comes down to my personal preference.  It is also a larger burger than average, so your portion size is definitely worth it.

Fresh Chips: 10/10.

Now these… these were something else. I am pretty picky with my fries, and I am the same way with my chips. When I say these were almost perfect, that is no overstatement. They were thick AND crunchy, but not too crunchy. There’s a fine line that they practically finessed over in that regard. I have absolutely no problems with these chips and they come in as the first 10/10 in Stoner’s Sustenence Review history.

The customer service was also great. We were greeted with a smile on the way in and out. The waitress also had to deal with my larger group as well as four other tables, but still did an excellent job. In conclusion, I was satisfied with my visit and I will be coming back to try the rest of their menu.

As always, support local businesses!
