Haven Activities Council (HAC) organized goat yoga for Commonwealth University – Lock Haven students on Sept. 14. This event featured goats of all different colors and sizes. In an outside enclosure, students were following along with an instructor who guided them through different yoga poses as the goats roamed around alongside them.

The session for goat yoga was at 3 p.m., and if you wanted to opt out of the yoga portion, you could join the goat therapy session, which started at 4 p.m. The maximum capacity for this event was 75 students per session. These spots filled up very quickly within the first 15 minutes. Other students waited patiently for spots to open.

“Goat yoga was a good break from studying. I got to relax with my friends and meet cute goats,” said sophomore Alyssa Fohl.

Many participated in the yoga and others enjoyed petting and holding the goats. A commonality everyone seemed to share was taking photos of and with the furry animals.

Keyarah Garcia, a freshman, commented that she is grateful for the experience of goat yoga and helped push herself outside of her comfort zone.

The atmosphere at this event was energetic, relaxing, and overall positive. This event was a great outlet for students to connect with one another. Everyone was engaged with one another, whether it was hanging with friends, or passing around goats and admiring them with unfamiliar students.

Students noted that they would be willing to attend this event if HAC were to hold it again in the future.

“It was a great time. I liked to see the goats, and there was just good energy and laughter everywhere,” said freshman Austin Best.

This event had quite a turnout. All the students who attended seemed more than pleased with this event.

Goat yoga is the perfect event for any student that loves goats, needs a study break, or wants to get involved with the school community.

Breanna Chicas is a freshman at Lockhaven University. She is a first-year Media and Journalism major. This is her first year working on the Eagle Eye staff. As a writer for the Eagle Eye, Breanna has set two goals for this year: find her voice as a writer and take on writing assignments that push her out of her comfort zone. When she’s not writing, Breanna can be found chilling with her dogs, taking on some sort of crafting project, or working as a server. Breanna hopes to continue to learn about the media and journalism world and find ways to incorporate her own flare into her assignments and projects.
