The Rams Have Struck Lucas Oil: The Los Angeles Rams took care of business this weekend as they traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to play the Colts. The Rams won in dramatic fashion as they won in overtime 29-23 with the game winning touchdown scored by rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua. Nacua has been sensational for the Rams as he has racked up 39 receptions and 501 receiving yards in just his first four NFL games. Sunday was also the most receiving yards he’s had in a game as he had 163 receiving yards on the day. Nacua’s quarterback Matt Stafford also had an impressive performance, throwing for 319 yards. Nacua is not the only sensational rookie for the Rams as running back Kyren Williams continues to stand out running for 103 yards and scoring two touchdowns. On the topic of rookies, Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson had a good game as well. He threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns to Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox. Richardson also rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown. The Rams defense did get the best of Richardson and the Colts, having two sacks and seven tackles for loss in the win over the Colts. Both teams enter Week 5 with a record of 2-2. The Rams head back home to host the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, while the Colts remain in Indianapolis to host their division rival, the Tennessee Titans, at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Chiefs Struggle in New York: After the New York Jets lost star quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the season due to a ruptured achilles, fans were not expecting a lot from the Jets. This past weekend, the Jets made the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs work for their win in a game that was expected to be a blowout. While the Chiefs did win 23-20, the Jets made it anything but easy. Former MVP and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes did not play well throwing for 203 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The Chiefs bright spot-on offense was running back Isiah Pacheco rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown. The biggest surprise of the game was how well Jets quarterback Zach Wilson played, almost leading his team to a win over one of the best teams in the league. Wilson threw for 245 yards no interceptions and two touchdowns to Allen Lazard and CJ Uzomah. Lazard had 61 receiving yards along with one touchdown. Star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, had nine receptions for 60 yards. The Chiefs move to 3-1 on the year and the Jets fall to 1-3. Both teams hit the road this weekend as the Jets head to Denver to take on the 1-3 Broncos. The Chiefs travel to Minnesota to take on Justin Jefferson and the Vikings.
A Texas Sized Win: The Houston Texans had a dominant victory this past Sunday 30-6 over the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. The Texans were projected to be one of the worst teams this season but are starting to prove the preseason predictions very wrong. They have a first-year coach in DeMeco Ryans, a rookie quarterback with C.J. Stroud, and a lot of other young players, but it doesn’t matter. The Texans started the year 0-2 but have gotten even at 2-2, winning their last two games by multiple scores. Stroud is new to the league but is already dominating as he has thrown for the second most yards by a rookie through his first four games in NFL history with 1,212 passing yards. Stroud threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns against Pittsburgh, both scores going to Nico Collins, who led the way with 168 receiving yards. Running back Dameon Pierce had a day including 81 rushing yards. He even got involved in the passing game throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Dalton Schultz. The Texans defense also got after it recording two forced fumbles, two sacks, seven tackles for loss and an interception. Both teams sit at 2-2 but are going in very different directions. The Texans are looking to have a promising season while the Steelers are looking like they may have their first losing season in almost two decades. The Texans will hit the road and head east for an AFC versus NFC matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. While the Steelers head back to Pittsburgh to host their division rival Baltimore Ravens.
