A survey was distributed to Lock Haven students about their favorite action movies. The survey included a list of 10 different movies, and students were encouraged to pick their favorite. Out of 73 responses, here are the final votes:
No. 1 (Tie): ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021) and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022)
A total of 25.7 % of the survey participants chose Spider-Man: No Way Home as their favorite movie. This 2021 movie is a very popular, well-rated movie. The beginning starts with Peter Parker, Tom Holland, getting his identity exposed by a previous villain in the prior movie. Peter Parker goes to Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch, and asks him to make a spell to make everyone forget that he is spiderman. The spell gets messed up and portals from other worlds open to create even more villains as well as allies. This movie is Peter Parker’s adventure to fix the backlash of the messed up spell.

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A total of 24.7% of the survey participants chose Top Gun: Maverick as their favorite action movie. This movie is the sequel to the Top Gun film from 1986. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, Tom Cruise is sent to a pilot school to train a new group of pilots. He leads the new group on a daring, thrilling mission that will lead you to the edge of your seat. As Maverick faces his past, he fights through his memories while having to brave through his present mission.

Number Two:
Suicide Squad (2021)
A total of 12.3% of the survey participants chose Suicide Squad as their favorite action movie. This DC comics movie is a sequel to the 2016 Suicide Squad. This Super villain movie stars Margot Robbie, John Cena, and Idris Elba. These villains are a part of Task Force X and have to go on a mission to reduce their jail sentences. Will these supervillains work as a team and complete there goal? Or will they betray one another and escape from the Task Force X responsibility?

Number Three:
Fast X (2023)
A total of 11% of the survey participants chose Fast X as their favorite action movie. Fast X is the 10th movie in the Fast and Furious movie series. Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel, is once again fighting with his team against time to perform a heist. The team becomes closer and works together as they improve their driving skills and teamwork. Will they complete the mission? Or will this be the last movie of the thrilling adventures of this loyal, family group? This comedic, thrilling, and action packed movie is a great movie night addition!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 (2023)
A total of 8.2% of the survey participants chose Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 as their favorite action movie. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the 3rd movie to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. This movie takes place after Infinity War and Endgame. This movie focuses on Rocket’s, Bradley Cooper, backstory as well as Peter Quill’s, Chris Pratt, grief of loosing Gamora. Rocket faces his past with the help of his friends and the Guardians once again get sucked into saving a piece of the Galaxy. Will they accomplish this?

Dune: Part One (2021)
A total of 6.8% of the survey participants chose Dune: Part One as their favorite action movie. Dune Part One stars Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani. This science fiction movie takes place on a desert planet with a valuable spice that is only located on that planet. After there planet gets attacked and betrayed, Paul and his mother have to seek refuge somewhere else and prepare to fight against and conquer the people who took over their planet.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
A total of 6.8% of the survey participants chose John Wick: Chapter 4 as their favorite action movie. This is the fourth movie in the John Wick Series. In this movie, John Wick, Keanu Reeves, believes he will be able to take down The High Table. His journey through defeating The High Table is exciting and thrilling as he struggles to overcome this new enemy. Will he succeed?

Bullet Train (2022)
A total of 4.1% of the survey participants chose Bullet Train as their favorite action movie. This movie is a action thriller film that is based on a book written by Kitaro Isaka. In the movie the star Brad Pitt and a bunch of other assassins and criminals find themselves on the same train in Japan. They each have their own goal but their goals overlap one another and cause problems. Are they all going to be able to complete their goal or will they all fail?

Tenet (2020)
A total of 1.4% of the survey participants chose Tenet as their favorite action movie. This puzzling movie will leave you on the edge of your seat. This Christopher Nolan movie is mind blowing as you watch a CIA agent, John David Washington, defy time and explore a parallel time zone to his own. The CIA agent goes through different time zones to solve and get back a stolen object. Will he work with his team to accomplish his mission?

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
A total of 0% of the survey participants chose this film as their favorite action movie. This Mission Impossible movie is the seventh movie in the series. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) once again is put on a mission to defend the fate of the world from a new weapon. This sky thriller brings in Hunt’s backstory and leads him to face his past and current self. The cliffhanger will be revisited in “Dead Reckoning Part Two.”

Rose is a transfer student from Montgomery County Community College. This is her first year at Lock Haven University, but her second year in college. She is majoring in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. She intends on pursuing her master's degree in social work after graduating from Lock Haven. Although she is not interested in a career in the news field, she has a love for writing, and the school newspaper is a perfect way to fulfill that. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her friends, and reading.
