LOCK HAVEN PA.- The Lady Eagles (19-2) got back in the win column with a big victory over the Kutztown Golden Bears (12-9) on Wednesday Feb. 7. After being down 31-26 going into halftime, the Bald Eagles outscored Kutztown 30-15 in the second half to secure a 56-46 win.
Coming into the night Lock Haven recently had their 19-game winning streak snapped in a loss to West Chester, and it looked like the loss was weighing on them in the first half. A combination of poor shooting and seeming lack of focus and communication put them in a hole early. Lock Haven shot 8-29 in the first half, while the Golden Bears shot 11-26. The only positive for The Haven was the interior defense, as they shut down the paint and forced Kutztown to make tough shots from beyond the arc. As the half ended, head coach Jennifer Smith’s frustration could be heard, clearly frustrated with the team’s performance.
Out of the locker room, Lock Haven came out on fire in the second half. The Lady Eagles opened the half on an 11-2 run, led by star guard Jenadia Jordan. Jordan had multiple finishes in traffic and ended the night with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Next Up the Lady Eagles will again look to defend their home court, as they take on the 7-14 East Stroudsburg Warriors Wednesday Feb. 14 at Thomas Fieldhouse.
