LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Bald Eagles (6-19) dropped both games in a home series versus the Millersville Marauders (22-5).

For Game One it was Matt Lingenfelter on the mound for Lock Haven. While he started off hot, it wasn’t long before the Marauder’s bats got going. Lock Haven quickly found themselves down 6-1 after the second inning. Things wouldn’t get any better as the Bald Eagles quickly fell into an 8-1 hole before Lingenfelter’s day was done. Lock Haven’s hitters did their best to keep pace, as Zach McEllroy drilled an RBI single into right field to cut the deficit to 8-3 after the fifth. The Haven’s pitching staff would give up three home runs in the game, as it ended with an abysmal 15-4 final score. Carson Kulina would boost his record to 6-0 for Millersville, giving up one run and striking out 12. Meanwhile Lingenfelter would be tagged with the loss, droping his overall record to 2-5.

Game Two saw Dylan McKenna on the mound for Lock Haven, facing off against Millersville’s Alex Kuehn. Jimmy Kirk got the day started for the Marauders, hitting a two RBI single in the top of the first. Then it was McEllroy again coming up big for the Bald Eagles, responding with a RBI double of his own. The Haven looked a lot better in game two, as McKenna settled in and Lock Haven’s bats came to life. Francisco Taveras earned two RBI’s on two hits and the Bald Eagles found themselves up 6-3 after the third. Millersville seemed to have confidence in their dugout that they wouldn’t trail for long and they were quickly proven right. The Marauders began teeing off Lock Haven’s bullpen and It wasn’t long before they found themselves up 8-6. Millersville would never relinquish the lead after that, winning the game with a final score of 11-6.

While Lock Haven dropped both games at home, manager Heath Stover focused on the positives after the fact. Specifically he talked about McEllroy, who collected four hits on six plate appearances across both games.

“He’s awesome,” Stover said, “He’s a freshman for us hitting in the four slot, which is almost unheard of in college baseball today. But I look at his approach, his demeanor, how he carries himself, and his work ethic. He is just a great kid.”

Lock Haven will need a strong performance out of McEllroy when they travel to Millersville to complete the series on Saturday March 30.
