LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The nationally-ranked Lady Eagles (24-2) managed to keep their hot streak alive, getting a convincing 64-51 win over the Shippensburg Raiders (5-22).

The Raiders were able to keep the score competitive in the first half, thanks to freshman guard Bella Chimienti. Chimienti scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds in the first half. For The Haven it was Jenadia Jordan leading the charge, scoring 12 points and grabbing four rebounds of her own. After the opening half Lock Haven held the lead 32-24. Notably even with the lead head coach Jennifer Smith looked less than pleased with her teams performance.

The Bald Eagles started the second half on fire. Lock Haven shut the Raiders down coming out of the half, holding them scoreless for over seven minutes. After the third quarter Lock Haven held a 48-32 lead with no signs of slowing down.

In the fourth Shippensburg managed to get it back together, going on to outscore the Bald Eagles 19-16. Unfortunately for the Raiders it was too late as Lock Haven held on to win.

Jordan, Rhlyn Rouse, Taylor Leidy, and Alana Robinson all scored double digits for Lock Haven in the victory. For the Raiders, it was Abbie Miller who led the way. She finished with 18 points, followed by Chimienti who had 12.

Leidy, Lock Haven’s star of the game, seemed overjoyed with her and her team’s performance in the win.

“Today I definitely had one of my best games of the season,” Leidy said. “It was a big game for us and I’m like I want to do everything I can to help my teammates win tonight and I’m going to let it all out.”

With the win the Lady Eagles have officially clinched the No. 1 seed in the PSAC East, and the right to host the playoffs in Thomas Fieldhouse. Additionally, with 24 wins they have the second most wins in a season in program history.

“We were pretty mad when they picked us to finish sixth at the beginning of the year” coach Smith said when asked about this historic season, “We knew we were not a six seed team. We were angry and motivated every day because they picked us sixth, and now we are the No. 1 seed in the east.”
