LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team (5-7) hosted George Mason (9-7) on Thursday, Jan. 25. The Bald Eagles won all but two matches to grab a 33-6 victory. 

“Guys came out and performed in a packed field house,” Lock Haven head coach Scott Moore said. “Just a lot of effort, a lot of excitement and a sense of urgency in the first period. These guys put on one of the best performances we’ve had here in a long time.”

Lock Haven started off strong winning the first five matches of the event to go up 23-0 at halftime.

At 125, Anthony Noto started things off for the Bald Eagles with a pinfall victory over JB Dragovich (4:05). 

“We need to wrestle our best guys. He’s able to step up and fight through some of the pain and find a way to help the team in the next step,” Moore mentioned.

Gable Strickland picked up a victory by decision (4-2) at 133 over Brandon Wittenberg.

At 141, Wyatt Henson won by tech fall (21-5, 4:23) over Nate Higley. Henson now has 12 tech fall victories on the season.

“He wrestles hard,” Moore noted. “It’s fun to watch him compete. He beat a really good opponent tonight. And that’s just going to keep building his confidence.”

At 149, Nick Stonecheck picked up a win via fall (1:44) over Kaden Cassidy. Connor Eck won by decision (15-11) over JT Chance at 157. Eck had a 15-2 lead in the third period and held off a hard-charging Chance to earn the victory.

George Mason recorded victories at 165 and 184.  At 165 Evan Maag won by decision (8-3) over Eric Alderfer. Malachi DuVall defeated Colin Fegley with an 8-2 decision victory at 184.

Tyler Stoltzfus won for Lock Haven, defeating Paul Pierce at 174. Down 3-2 late in the third-period, Stoltzfus used a last second takedown to give himself the 5-3 decision victory.

At 197, Brad Morrison defeated Ruben Karapetyan via major decision (10-1). 

Ethan Miller won by decision (8-2) at 285 over Donovan Sprouse.

UP NEXT:

Lock Haven will travel to Rider on Friday, Jan. 26. The match starts at 7 p.m.
