LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team (21-2) hosted the East Stroudsburg Warriors (7-15) on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The Bald Eagles had a small lead (19-11) over the Warriors after the first quarter, but a big run in the second quarter gave Lock Haven the momentum for a 74-46 victory.

“This is coming down to the final stretch,” Rhlyn Rouse said. “These are our last times to go out and play hard and grab some wins. Good defense brings good offense. Constant communicating and picking each other up and knowing we got each others back.”

The first points didn’t come until the 7:18 mark in the first quarter on a two-point shot by Madeline Evans. Lock Haven and East Stroudsburg traded three-point shots from Carly Fitzmorris and Gwenn Sabato. Fitzmorris hit another three-pointer to give the Bald Eagles a 10-5 lead. 

Lock Haven came out storming in the second quarter outscoring East Stroudsburg 20-4. The Bald Eagles receiver points during the quarter from Rouse (7), Jenadia Jordan (7), Alana Robinson (6), and Jackie Fetsko (2). The Bald Eagles went into the half with a 39-15 lead. 

Coming out of halftime, Lock Haven did not look back and outscored East Stroudsburg 35-31 in the second half to grab the victory over the Warriors.

Midway through the third quarter, the Bald Eagles set the program record for team blocks in a season with 114. Jordan was able to get the block for the record-breaking play.

TOP SCORERS:

Rouse led the Bald Eagles with a career-high of 22 points. Jordan finished with nine points. Robinson finished the game with eight.

Cassidy Saylor led the Warriors with 18 points. 

UP NEXT:

Lock Haven will travel to Shepherd on Saturday, Feb. 17. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
