LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team (0-2) hosted the 2023 Mat-Town Open I on Sunday, Nov. 26. Wyatt Henson led the way for the Bald Eagles, being crowned the champion at 141 pounds. Henson was one of four place-winners for Lock Haven.

Ty Linsenbigler, Brett Barbush, and Isaac Reid placed second, third, and fourth, respectively, in their weight classes.

Henson recorded two tech fall victories to advance his way to the semifinals. Henson recorded a 9-8 victory over Binghamton’s Nate Lucier. In the finals, Henson won by decision (9-7) over Lehigh’s Carter Bailey.

“Wyatt looked good today,” Lock Haven head coach Scott Moore said. “He won some close matches and he’s having a great season so far. He was able to score, utilize his attacks, and get some good wins on the day. I’m excited to see where he ends up here in the next two or three months. Overall a great weekend for him.”

At 149, Linsenbigler finished 5-1 on the day after two major decision victories to put himself in the third-place bout. Linsenbigler defeated Lehigh’s Owen Reinsal with a 5-1 decision victory to place third.

At 165, Barbush went 2-2 on the day recording one tech fall. Barbush fell to Noah Roulo by major decision (13-5) to place fourth.

In the 285 bracket, Reid recorded a tech fall victory in the quarterfinals before grabbing a 9-4 decision victory over Binghamton’s Charlie Tibbitts. Reid would have to medically forfeit the first-place bout against Cornell’s Lewis Fernandes to place second.

“In the semifinals he tweaked something,” Moore noted. “[He] decided not to wrestle in the finals, but he should be okay.”
