LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team (6-11) faced off against Cleveland State (6-7) on Friday, Feb. 16. Lock Haven jumped out to a 19-12 lead with two matches remaining but a major decision and pin by Cleveland State earned them the 22-19 victory.
“I think for the most part we competed pretty hard,” Lock Haven head coach Scott Moore said. “We had some good wins and scored a lot of points. Big win at 174 and Stonecheck and Henson coming out and wrestling well. Noto looked good in his return. Big upset at 133, but we just have to regroup and get ready for Edinboro.”
At 125, Anthony Noto won via decision (5-2) over Ben Aranda. This was Noto’s first victory since their dual against Rider back on Jan. 26.
“I had a good talk with my coaches,” Noto mentioned. “I know when I wrestle to the best of my ability I can beat anybody in the country.”
At 133, Nick Molchak pulled off the upset victory over Gable Strickland, winning by fall (2:02).
Lock Haven recorded victories at 141 and 149 from Wyatt Henson and Nick Stonecheck, respectively. Henson won via a 20-8 major decision victory over Dylan Layton. Stonecheck recorded a tech fall victory (15-0, 2:13) over Ethan Mitchell. Twelve of Stonecheck’s 15 points came via near-fall.
