LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team hosted the Mat-Town Open II on Sunday, Jan. 28. DaShawn Farber led the way for the Bald Eagles, placing second at 157.

“It was a great day of wrestling,” Lock Haven head coach Scott Moore said. “Almost two hundred wrestlers here. Our guys competed hard and had some good wins. Farber made the finals with a big win. It’s another opportunity to compete in the field house and get some reps in and build some confidence and see some other opponents, rather than our own. I’m proud of the guys who competed. Today was a successful day for us.”

Farber went 3-1 on the day after back-to-back major decision victories over Buzz Bomberger (11-0) and Kelly Kakos (11-3). In the semifinals, Farber defeated Pittsburgh’s Dylan Evans by decision (4-1). Farber dropped his match in the finals against Rutgers Jacob Butler by major decision (8-0).

“He moved up a weight a couple weeks ago,” Moore mentioned. “He was in the finals and had a couple good wins on the day. He’s competing hard and building confidence.”

At 149, Lucas Kapusta finished fifth overall. Kapusta made his way to the quarter-final match after a victory via fall (1:56) over Pittsburgh’s Jack Pletcher. Kapusta fell by fall (1:56) from Lehigh’s Kelvin Griffin. Kapusta was able to fight his way back to a fifth place finish.

Wyatt Fox finished sixth-place at 141. Fox fell in the quarterfinals by decision (4-2) to Rutgers Max Hermes. Fox battled his way to the fifth-place battle where he fell to Bucknell’s Dylan Chappell by major decision (14-6).
