MIAMI, Fl. – Tua Tagovailoa made his return for the Miami Dolphins against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 23. The Dolphins (4-3) jumped out to a 16-10 lead at halftime and used two fourth quarter interceptions and a scoreless second half to defeat the Steelers (2-5).

Tua led the Dolphins on an opening nine-play, 76-yard drive going 6/7 for 68-yards leading to an eight-yard touchdown catch by running back Raheem Mostert. On their next possession, Miami started on their own 45-yard line after just a 23-yard punt by the Steelers. The Dolphins tacked on a 24-yard field goal by Jason Sanders.

On the Steelers next possession, rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett was intercepted by defensive back Justin Bethel. The interception led to a 41-yard field goal by Sanders giving the Dolphins a 13-0 lead with 2:31 remaining in the first quarter. Pittsburgh got on the board in the second quarter on a 45-yard field goal by Chris Boswell. Pickett eventually led the team on a 14-play, 97-yard drive that led to a seven-yard touchdown reception by rookie wide receiver George Pickens. The Dolphins tacked on a 47-yard field goal attempt before halftime by Sanders to head into the locker room with a 16-10 lead. 

In the second half, Pittsburgh drove into Miami territory two times but two interceptions by safety Jevon Holland and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene stopped the drives, capping off a scoreless second half.

In four games started, Steelers’ rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett has thrown seven interceptions on the season and has thrown three in a game twice.
